Happy Holidays everyone! We really hope you all have a beautiful festive season with your loved ones.
We want to thank all of you who participated in our Winter Event. I had the absolute best time coming up with new blends and styles. Alex was a bit disappointed that he was unable to join me in the making of premade wigs (Except for a couple) but he may try and make a few cheeky wigs to pop up over New years! These will mostly be pigtails and ponytails but potentially an arlo or two as well. We'll post more info about that closer to the time.
For now we wanted to have a chat with you about a whole host of other things. A few changes that we've made recently, our new wig series and some plans for the future. Get a cup of hot cocoa, eggnog or other festive drink and get comfortable as this may be quite a long post!
First off, I want to make a personal thank you to everyone who has supported us this year. This was actually a really rough year for me in many aspects, personally and creatively and I experienced what I can only describe as creative burn out for the majority of 2018. However after scheduling that time to play with new colours and ideas and having a lot of my boys back home, i'm now bursting at the seams with drive and inspiration that I haven't experienced in a long long time, so thank you. So much. Its cheesy to say but it really is the best Christmas present I could ever hope for! For as long as I've been in this hobby (Which must be approaching 17 years now! Ouch!) unusual SD boy hair has been the thing that excites me the most. I know we're probably less known working in SD sizes but its where my passions really lie. I love making pretty long wigs for Minifee too, but in terms of personal collections, I'm all about those SD boys! The new K-POP inspired line is literally my favorite thing ever. We're trying to focus on more realistic cuts and colours like the gorgeous hair that keeps popping up all over social media. I'm hoping to expand on this line and add a lot more options. .Really, I feel like the Arlo should be in this line but since it's named after my best friend's character and his hair, I don't want to take the name away from him c;
We've been doing a lot of experimentation with roots and ombres and are hoping to add these to the colour lineups. We have already added in an add-on root option to the store but I would love to get some more examples made up so you guys can see what is possible. Since we've had a year of non stop work, I've actually decided to take some time off between Christmas and New year to make my own dolls (and some for my friends) so I will hopefully post up some new examples of what you can do with some roots before the New Year!

I've decided that in 2019 I'll be making my own Instagram account for personal dolls. I really want to enjoy the hobby like I used to. Sometimes thats hard when its also your work but I've really missed (And needed) a creative outlet. The problem is that I'm a total workaholic and I often work 14hrs+ in one day and so I don't have time for anything that I enjoy on a personal level. I think it is time I changed that. In recent preorders we've closed much earlier to handle the workload better and that has worked out so much better for me. I think we'll be sticking to this system next year. Now that a bunch of my heads are back and I have more models to work with, I should be able to post a lot more "finished" wigs as the dolls that I do have won't all be in use for caps or partially made wigs. I have decided that the worktable method works the best for me but I need to be more consistent in posting, which will hopefully be much easier now we have the extra heads. We could really do with some extra SD bodies but that is something we need to work on over time. And don't get me started on clothes!
As many of you may know, Alex and I have been living away from my home in England for a number of years now. This is because Alex has a permit to be anywhere in Europe except the EU and so, in order to stay together we've moved to France and then later to Spain. We've decided that enough is enough now though and so Alex will be applying for a student visa to go and study health and social care, September 2019 and I could potentially be back home in England by May! Don't worry, Frappzilla won't be going anywhere but we may have to close for a month over the summer while we are moving back and applying for VISAs etc. We need to make sure that we have enough savings to cover his tuition so we'll be working really hard!
I should be creating a 2017 and 2018 gallery as I realise that the wigs for the past couple of years have been just scattered across oblivion. I'll be trying to compile everything and move it to the gallery sections and having a fresh start on the worktable for 2019. We want to use this daily to record everything we make as well as tips and tricks when it comes to styling different fibres and wig cuts.
To kick this off i'll make a separate post with how to make buns out of pigtails and ponytails and another on how to create texture with soy.
