April - Momo Cottontail
The tail joint was sadly not perfect on the test but it has been fixed now for production.
Sorry we couldn't show it attached but I promise its very cute!
Hello, Friends!
Welcome to the FOURTH month of Dandelion Bloom, a monthly ball-jointed doll kit release.
Each tiny bloom will represent a different theme that changes each month of the year, for the entirety of 2021 (and maybe beyond!) They will be sent to you unassembled and ready to sand, string and customise.
This little bloom 'Momo' will only be available for the month of April and then we will move to May Blooms! If demand is too much, we may need to close early. March dolls sold out in about 7-8 minutes so you will need to be fast!
She comes with UPRIGHT ears but upright ears can be purchased separately.
If you adopt Polka or another bloom, you'll be able to have them hold hands together. You may need to paint or blush the alternate hands if you purchase different colours though!
We'll take care of all the major support removal from the printing process, but you'll need to smooth out any leftover supports and give all pieces a fine smoothing over with sandpaper or a dremel. You can remove any visible lines or imperfections with sanding.
We recommend a sandpaper of 400-800 grit for any major work and anything 1500+ for a finishing paper. If you're using a dremel, definitely don't go lower than 300 as this will cause intense scratching that will be harder to remove.
A video will be posted around the time that we produce these little ones, showing you everything that you will receive and talk you through the process of completing your little doll. We will discuss safety, any small supplies that may be useful and explain how to sand and string your bloom, as well as give you a little look into their posing ability.
For April, we have changed the elbow design from previous months to a single jointed arm piece (the elbow is attached) for ease of production and sanding. Those tiny pieces are very difficult to get a good grip of, so this will make life a lot easier.
All parts are printed in resin and are not cast, so pieces will likely include lines and imperfections for you to sand away and once ready, you must apply some UV protective sealant to protect your little bloom. They are a little more fragile than cast dolls but as long as you don't throw them around and show them respect and kindness, they should be just fine!
These are kits are put together by just two people and they will have imperfections. Please bear in mind that they are a kit and therefore require finishing by you, which is how we are able to offer them for an affordable price. However we will do our best to ensure that you are receiving something that is easy to work with and of high print quality.
The estimated time to smooth and string your bloom is about 2-3 hours. But this is designed to be a fun activity for us to wind down with, in the chaos of the times we are living in. With the addition of painting and blushing, making wigs and fashioning tiny clothes - this is a fun little DIY project for you to get stuck into and if you like, enjoy on a monthly basis with a wide range of critters and creatures to keep you company.
The bunnies will include the following;

- Bottom piece

A small wig kit will be added to the shop as well. These will be available in a pastel rainbow mix for March release but the kits will change monthly. We will provide you with the fibres that you need to make the wig and appropriate bands used in the making of them. You will have the option if you would like the kit with the jersey we use for our caps or if you'd prefer to use something that you have on hand for cheaper (such as stockings or your own white jersey) A tutorial will be posted this week with how to make your own wig. Each month may explore different styles of wigs!
Shipping will be changed this month as we have upgraded to a new postal account.
A maximum of 4 blooms can ship together before another shipping fee must be paid.
It is to be noted that we are in the UK and in lockdown for a few more weeks. If there are any significant delays we will of course keep you all notified.
You can stay informed on our progress with all blooms on Instagram
If neither of the blooms for this month aren't for you, worry not as May blooms will be available in the middle of May. Next month sees our very special 'Xiao' a very long dragon-taur! This will be our last larger release for a little while as Xiao will be a very limited release due to complexity.
This month is a special month for me in terms of theme.
The two bunnies, Momo and Polka are based off our real life bunnies. Two free roam double maned lionhead ladies. Sadly due to moving back to England and covid restrictions, our little girls are currently living with Alex's family in Italy and we miss them terribly.
Although a little mouse, our new seedling Pomelo, is based off of our larger moon Alula and a nod to my shoulder rat I had as a teen, Gem.
Finally we have Confetti who is to celebrate our 6th Anniversary of opening Frappzilla as a shop. We've been through so much in these last 6 years. We have lived in 4 countries between us (France, Spain, Italy and England) made hundreds and hundreds (possibly thousands!) of wigs and begun sculpting in recent years too. This little business has been a labour of love and we have poured every bit of ourselves into it. Its been really hard and we've had to make a lot of sacrifices along the way but we're finally in a place where we can begin to celebrate and this is what Confetti represents. A celebration of a million little victories that add up to one destination, which is now. We've tried to give confetti the very essence of frappzilla, with a quirky, random design and of course, a rainbow tail.
A second collaboration with QuirkyQritters sees us a very cute little Cinnamon Roll mouse! :D Such a sweet little treat! :D
